In an effort to explore the relationship between movement and therapies, researcher, therapist, and healing practitioner Cindi Saj is conducting groundbreaking research in Williams Lake. As a faculty member of the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, Saj is driven by a desire to understand the impact of combining movement with traditional therapies on human well-being. Her research is focusing on the IDEA framework, which she has recently published in the International Journal of Positivity and Well-being.

The Research Study

Cindi Saj’s study involved twelve participants who underwent a yoga-based therapy session at Studio 20 in Williams Lake. The session was hosted by Saj and involved a combination of yoga, hypnotherapy, bilateral stimulation, and psychotherapy integration. Participants began and ended the session with a questionnaire to assess their feelings of self-esteem and well-being before and after the session.

The Potential of the Yoga Dome

The new yoga dome, located out west of Williams Lake, offers a unique opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with nature. Studio 20, which Saj co-owns with Brandy Links and Bianca Cronin, organizes small group hikes to local spots such as Fox Mountain and Russet Bluff, allowing customers to develop a sense of well-being through movement and a connection to nature.

“It’s finding a different way to de-stress or unpack or find peace,” said Cindi Saj about the yoga dome.

The dome will host well-being workshops and yoga sessions, providing a peaceful and serene environment for participants to explore their well-being.
